PLANNING 56 - PROBLEMS WE FACED DURING FILMING

PROBLEMS AND HOW WE SOLVED THEM

PROBLEMS

HOW WE SOLVED THEM

One problem that we faced is the camera that we began with. We started with a Panasonic camera which was heavy to hold and hard to see through as the viewer was small. Also we found that the quality wasn’t as good, and that in some scenes it was grainy.

We solved this by changing cameras. Instead of using the Panasonic camera we changed to the 7D Canon, which has a great HD quality and is a lot easier to hold to ensure that we don’t get tired of holding it.

Another problem that we faced is timing. As our actors are from a different college they too have other priorities, therefore they weren’t always able to film on the dates we chose.

To solve this we made a deal of filming continuously on Saturday’s so that we were always free and that way filming wouldn’t get in the way of their learning time.

We also faced problems when we had to secure a church location. We tried many churches in the area and got rejected as they found that doing a horror film was unacceptable in a church.

Therefore to secure a church location, we went out of area and found one in Stepney, who were happy to help us, and understood the narrative and found that really our character was there for peace and comfort.

Also, another problem that we faced was keeping our continuity constant. We had troubles with this as some of our actors came in different clothing so it didn’t match up to the rest of the film.

However we solved this whilst we were editing. We re-filmed the scenes where they aren’t wearing the correct clothing and when we were editing we cut the two different scenes in half to make a whole scene.
