PLANNING 34 - RULE OF THIRDS
The rule of thirds is a powerful compositional technique for making photos more interesting and dynamic.
PLANNING 33 - FEEDBACK ON POSTER
FEEDBACK ON OUR PERILOUS POSTER
1. The image should be placed more into the middle.
2. They like the way we have overlapped the text over the image, emphasising the name of the film.
3. Think that we should make the text more clearer so that it stands out more to the audience if they were to glance at the poster.
4. Also believe that our 'Perilous' text should be risen more in order to see more of the image.
After looking at the feedback we are going to take in to account what our audience has said and apply to it our poster in order to make the best poster possible!!!

PLANNING 28 - LIGHTING SCHEDULE
LIGHTING SCHEDULE
Scene 1: We are not going to be using lighting in this scene
as any lighting will be from the video their watching on their faces.
Scene 2: We are going to need to use lighting in this scene
as the basement is extremely dark, therefore we need lighting in order to see
our characters.
Scene 3: During the walk to the A-Block we will not be using
lighting because it will be shot in the day so we are going to be using natural
lighting.
Scene 4: During the church scene the lighting that will be
used will be from the lighting in the church as we are planning on switching
the lights off one by one.
Scene 5: The lighting in this scene will also be natural as
we will be outside.
Scene 6: Natural lighting
will also be used in this scene.
Scene 7: During the library scene we are going to be using
one piece of lighting equipment in order to see the characters reaction.
Scene 8: In the corridor their will perhaps be little
lighting as we want to keep it dark in order to not notice what is lurking
behind Jake.
Scene 9: In the last scene it will be just natural lighting
as we want a more darker effect when Jake is getting beaten.

PLANNING 27 - WEATHER CHECK
WEATHER CHECK
Today we decided to meet our actors again as our schedule had changed so we wanted to update them. We also gave them any forms to sign and made them read the child regulations as they are external so they were aware of the terms and condition whilst filming.
As we are meeting our actors we decided to take a weather check to as we are going to be documenting the meeting so we wanted to get the best lighting.
The time that we wanted to meet at was at 5, but after looking at the weather we decided to meet earlier because it will be a lot more lighter and we wont get drenched in the rain at 4. We also made sure that because it will be cold out we told our actors to dress warm so that they don't get ill before filming!
PLANNING 26 - CONSENT FORMS FOR OUR ACTORS
These are the consent forms for our actors to sign before the day of filming in order for us to be able to get their permission to film and document them.

PLANNING 21 - TITLE FONT IDEAS
'PERILOUS' FONT IDEAS
PErILOUS
PRO – It seems as if the writing is drowning out and disappearing relating to the character of our film who is slowly deteriorating.
CON – May be mistaken for a slasher film as it looks like blood dripping.
DaFont – Pulse Sans Virgin
PERILOUS
PRO – As some words are switched around, it relates to the disorientation of Jake’s mind.
CON – For our poster, this may look too long.
DaFont – Times New Yorker
PERILOUS
PRO – As it is bold it will stand out and the bricks can represent his outside journey.
CON – It is too simplistic for our poster.
From all these choices we decided to go with the first option as we believe that it relates to our film the most and the font clearly shows the audience that it is a horror film.

PLANNING 18 - REASONS FOR OUR LOCATIONS
REASONS FOR OUR LOCATION:
The Tower Hamlets Graveyard vs. CTC Graveyard
The reason why we
decided to use this instead of the one next to the CTC site is because we found
that the graves were a lot more scattered around the area and made it looked
displaced which creates a disjointed look
to our film. We also wanted to choose this because we found that the way
the trees came over the graves and the bushes gives it a more forest element so
it can link to our intertextuality of ‘The Blair witch project’. Another reason
for the use of this location is because we will be filming in December therefore
it will be a lot darker, which gives the graveyard a mistier and haunted effect
in our film.
The Aspire Sixth Form library vs. The Harley Grove library
We chose this
location instead of the Harley Grove library because we found that if we used
the one in Aspire it would create more continuity in our film because the film
is mostly based around that building. We also chose this library because we
found that the exit doors and the main door is a lot better to capture in the
film and the spacing of the sofa works well within the shot of the doors.
Victoria Park vs. Bethnal Green Park vs. Stepney Green Park
Victoria Park was
chosen because we liked the way there is one huge path. The reason why we like
this is because when we shoot we can capture a lot of angles as the path is big
enough. Another reason why we chose this park is because we found that because
we will we working when the days get darker the bare trees will have a nice
connotation in the film because it could signify the emptiness and loneliness
that Jake is feeling because of all the things that he is facing alone.
Simple Gifts Church
The reason for this
location is because we found that it challenges the conventions of a horror
film, and it gives the element that Jake comes here for safety but in reality
for him nowhere is safe. We also wanted to choose this location because it
showed more of Jakes personality, and suggests to the audience that he likes to
help others which is why he volunteers at the church, and makes the audience
sympathise for him because of how he doesn’t deserve this. We also found that a
church worked well as many people say that this is where the spirits come to
communicate so it suggest that villain is here to perhaps communicate to Jake,
but the audience don’t know why.

PLANNING 16 - ADV & DISADV OF OUR POSTERS
ANALYSIS OF OUR FILM POSTERS:
THAHMINA’s POSTER:
Advantages:
- The slogan. By having this it enables our audience to remember our film, also by making it short it stays in the mind and must be catchy.
- The dark background used to highlight the scary mask is effective as it brings out the look of the mask, and suggests that as the audience we are supposed to be looking for a villain who looks like this, yet we know that the villain is not shown until the very end.
Disadvantages:
- It doesn’t include the name of our production, so the audience are unable to recognise our company name.
AIMA’s POSTER
Advantages:
- An advantage is the use of both our character’s and the masks face, this suggests to the audience that perhaps Jake is the villain himself, and that he is taking over himself.
- Again the use of a dark background is effective because it embraces the look of the main image in the middle of the poster.
Disadvantages:
- However, something that could be improved is to add a slogan, so that the audience are reminded about the film by remembering something catchy.
ROHIMA’s POSTER
Advantages:
- An advantage of this poster is that it includes an object from the film, so it gives our audience an insight into the film and an idea of what it will be about.
- Another advantage is the use of the unclear vision of our villain and how the audience have to guess who it may be, creating suspense.
Disadvantages:
- However, the object that is in the film may give too much away, so the audience may already predict the story and perhaps may not find it interesting.
- Also it uses natural lighting, which perhaps does not give it a scary element to the film.
FINAL DECISIONS:
So after looking at all our
posters, we decided on the things we would include in our final poster in order
for it to be successful. It will include:
- A dark background.
- The mask, which is something that is a big part from a film.
- ‘Perilous’ will be placed at the bottom, in a larger font.
- ‘X PRODUCTION’ will be below the title, in a smaller font.
- A slogan will be added at the top in order for the audience to see this first, and will be a lot more intrigued to watch the film.
PLANNING 15 - SOUND CHOICES FOR RADIO TRAILER
SOUND CHOICES
Static noise would be effective as it shows that there is something wrong happening in the current situation.
The song links to Strauss theory of 'Binary Oppositions' as it is like Old Vs New since we are playing a song from the past decade in a modern film.
This is the tone that we would want our news reporter voice over to have as it is firm and realistic.

PLANNING 13 - RISK ASSESSMENT
RISK ASSESSMENT
Hazard
|
Who might be harmed and how?
|
How will I prevent it from happening
|
Crossing over roads to get to places.
|
Both directors and cast
could drop equipment and cause havoc on the roads.
|
We will make sure to
pay attention to traffic lights and when crossing roads, we will look carefully
before crossing. Also, we could try to just stay on one side of the pavement
rather than crossing over to other sides.
|
Inside the Aspire building and on the rooftop.
|
In this situation, the
main actor and the director may be harmed because of anything that may be
lying about whilst shooting.
|
In this case, we will
make sure that there is nothing laying around the place such as bags so we
are working in a clear and organised setting.
|
The public - Park
|
It could harm the
public in case there is any equipment laying around on the floor, which wouldn’t
be professional.
|
To prevent this we will
make sure to keep out belongings organised and out of the way to ensure that
the public are not affected by anything.
|
Props
|
We could be harmed by
things that are lying around for instance we could trip over the fog machine
in Scene 1.
|
We will make sure that
all props are shown to the cast, to make it clear that it is there in order
for no one to trip over anything.
|
Locations - Church
|
In this location, we
could get hurt by anything that the church has left for example if the chairs
are left lying around in a disoriented position, one of us could trip over
it.
|
To prevent this, we
will go to all locations beforehand in order to clear the space so that
nothing is in the way. But we will ask for permission to do this, and put
things back if needed.
|
The weather
|
If the weather is
extremely bad such as extreme winds and heavy rain it will be hard to produce
anything and to control equipment.
|
In order to prevent
this, we will make sure we take a weather check before leaving and pack
umbrella’s etc. so that we are prepared for it.

PLANNING 9 - STORYBOARD (DRAFT)

PLANNING 5 - TREATMENT
TREATMENT
TITLE: PERILOUS (Full of danger or
risk)
CERTIFICATION: 12
TARGET AUDIENCE:
- Our target audience should be aged 16/17 over.
- Aimed at both females and males
- Girls that we are targeting are likely to have characteristics of Utopians and Innovators. By being innovator – those who wish to make their mark, we want our character to be portrayed as girls who have an importance and a high social status.
- Our male target audience are egoists, rebels and cowboys. When producing the film we want it to be thrilling and exciting in order for the young males to enjoy it. Also as rebels, they want to remake the world in their own image and by having a different and quite twisted story line, we are showing them a unusual situation which may interest them as it is not something they are normally exposed to in the real world.
FORMAT: FILM
DURATION: 5 MINUTES
SYNOPSIS:
- BEGINNING – The beginning of the film will include intertextuality, where we will produce FILM 1 (The film the characters are watching) as a typical horror film. This then pans out to 3 teenage girls (Girl 1, Girl 2, and Girl 3 AKA Popular Girls) at a sleepover. As the door opens we are introduced to Girl 4 who is a small girl that wants to be in the popular girls group. The girls end up playing a truth or dare game, which eventually leads to Girl 4 forced to kill the victim (A boy who was planning extreme revenge on the popular girls as they bullied his sister). The popular girls leave an envelope for Girl 4 to read the gruesome and horrific way the popular girls want him killed.
- MIDDLE – The time changes to after school time (past 3:00pm) the popular girls are walking to school for revision talking about whether Girl 4 will go forward with the killing. However, in an alleyway Girl 4 is seen talking to someone else but then spots the popular girls and runs after them. Whilst in school, it seems that someone is stalking the girls but they are unaware of this. They end up walking to the green room, where they start to study for their media work, however Girl 4 seems to interrupt as she comes in with the wrong equipment starting an argument between the girls which makes them leave the room as Girl 4 gets upset.
- END – As soon as the girls leave the room, the camera is still playing where we see the body of a man dressed in black. After he moves out of the shot, you are able to hear the curtain rails move, implying that he is hiding in the room. The popular girls come back in and position them in front of the curtains, starting their work. However, the camera rolls to the top of the curtain rails whilst a voiceover of a news report of 3 girls dead plays. The camera changes to a high angle of the curtain rails and in a quick moment the rails are harshly pulled open and the screen goes black but we then have an appearance of the killer, but the camera is dropped and we see him walking away.
KEY SCENES:
- SCENE 1: Intertextuality concept. Film 1 consists of 3 young girls running through a graveyard which is shown through a panorama shot, but are stopped by a mysterious black figure and we see them starting to walk backwards in terror through a worms eye view shot which is also canted. After it pans out to the popular girls in a sleepover setting.
- SCENE 2: The girls are making fun of Girl 4, trashing her room and treating her like a slave in order to show the high status the girls acquire we see this through an establishing shot, to get an idea of the mess. Whilst Girl 4 leaves the room, the popular girls are planning their pre-prepared ‘Dare’ for Girl 4, which is shown by the camera peeking through an opening of the door where they are blurred but you are able to hear what they are saying.
- SCENE 3: The popular girls set up the truth or dare game and Girl 4 unwillingly participates as she doesn’t want to be ridiculed. By using a high angle we see the game begin and then the camera is span around to replicate the idea of the bottle spinning for the game which eventually ends up on Girl 4. The popular girls mock Girl 4, which pushes Girl 4 to participate. The popular girls show the victim’s profile on Facebook and demands her to go through with the murder and hand over an envelope instructing her how to kill him, which we are able to see through an over the shoulder shot.
- SCENE 4: It turns to the next day in the afternoon (past 3:00pm) where the popular girls are talking about Girl 4 and whether she’ll go through with it and the consequences.
- SCENE 5: It cuts to the shadow of Girl 4 and a mysterious figure talking. Girl 4 through a telescopic shot catches the popular girls walking and so runs after them.
- SCENE 6: They enter the school going towards the classroom unaware that they are being followed by male, dark, figure. This is captured through an over the camera shot and tracking shot. The popular girls go to the green room ready to study, but Girl 4 appears with the wrong equipment causing an argument within the group, leading on to them leaving as Girl 4 exits upset.
- SCENE 7: As the room is isolated only with the music playing, we see a figure of a man dressed in black standing in front of the camera. As the camera stays in position we hear the curtain rails open and then close indicating that this figure is hiding. We know this as another telescopic shot is used behind the curtains spying as the popular girls enter.
- SCENE 8: There is an establishing shot to show the position of each character and to show that they are right in front of the figure. As the camera starts to pan upwards a voice over begins to play which is a news report on 3 girls found dead and the brutal way they were killed (which was the same way the popular girls wanted the boy dead coincidently).
- SCENE 9: As soon as the camera reaches the top, it is quickly transitioned into a high angle where we see the curtains suddenly pushed open and we hear a huge gasp and the screen turns pitch black. However, after this we show the killer picking the camera up and showing his face but then drops it back on to the floor and we see his footsteps walking away.
